My paws silently padded on the forest floor. Searching wolf eyes streaked the soroundings. I stopped. My sharp nose had caught the scent of a deer herd. My thoughts quickened. There seemed to be about 12 of them. A few young fawns are there, too. The buck didn't smell too chalenging. He'd be easy to take care of. And with them... Ahh,there she is. The sick doe. ... I can just taste the meat...it's been so long... In my travels, back to wherever here is,from the Pillar of Etheral I hadn't had much time to hunt. I was folowing this blasted deer herd to stay alive, when I relized I was in a different land. Cornering and questioning a fox,I asked him where I was. Hmph. Loner's land indead. I haven't seen another animal accept squirrels and deer since then. No wonder. Everybody thinks I'm such a freak. I stopped suddenly, putting the deer scent I had been folowing in the back of my mind. I had heard a wolf smell...a big wolf.

Motsin's long fur flowed in the breeze if the foothills. There had always been a breeze blowing here. It was elk season now. Motsin's keen sense of smell had led him to a herd, and he watched the herds movements from afar. A female seemed to be lagging, with a limp. It would be easy prey. If he could get past that buck... He wished Kanusio and Kunsai were with him now; They were the perfect hunting team... But when Shuttle pack splintered apart, they had gone there seperate ways from him, to live together, and maybe start a new pack? The siblings were very strong. Suddenly, the whiff of a stranger wolf crossed his nose. He snarled as he saw a female on a hill across from him, also eyeing the herd. Get off of my turf... Motsin was thinking, but then shook his head to clear the thought. This wasn't his territory anymore.... But he wasn't going to let the female take his glory by hunting his target down before him. He took a charge for the limping cow elk, alerting the herd. The elk were frenzying everywhere around him, but he kept his eye on the injured prey. Suddenly there was a rough kick on his head, and he turned to see the bull elk hovering over him, flailing his hooves. Motsin was sort of unsure what had happened. He could just feel pain as he was being clobbered by the bull elk's hooves.

Black and silver flashed in between the elk. I dashed toward the sick doe with the speed of a hunter well practiced. Almost there. As I leaped off the hill,I had felt the wolf eyes glaring at me. Not today, you won't. I need the food more than you. In the flurry of movement I saw the bull rear up as if to strike something. The other wolf. Well,he gets what he deserves, hunting my herd of elk. I smirked. Diving toward the doe,I bared my teeth. She shied in fear and backed away. IN her hurried retreat she stumbled and fell. I took the chance and plunged for her throat. She flailed in terror as I started running toward her,and shear instinct made her bellow for help. Just a few feet moreslam I was whipped to the side, off my feet by the powerful bull's horns. He had heard the cow's bellowing and had come over to fend off this second predator, leaving the other wolf to lie there. Yipping in pain,I struggled out of his path and dove for the throat, one of his few weak spots..He shook his head with anger and reared up. just like with the other wolf I thought. Accept this time He's not going to get me. Ha! I was enjoying this hunt. My type of play.yes, find the food, stalk the food, eat the food.My aim was true. I struck with such force,he staggered.Bellowing,he Shook his head, but I held on,gripping tighter.Another 20 minuets of struggling and he was down. I made short work of it,the killing. As I looked, panting, down on my trophy I thought. What a shame to have to kill a magnificent animal as him. There aren't enough elk and the bull keeps the herd alive. Oh,well, enough of that. Now I have my well deserved meal... And I gorged myself. A fresh elk is tempting, but a fresh elk on an empty stomach is another thing. It seemed I would never be full, just keep eating and eating. Finally,I stopped,my belly quite larger. It looks like I'm looking to dig a den for pups to a stranger. I always shared jokes with my self. Another strange habit of a loner wolf. Now,about the fiend who started the stampede... I thought, looking around at the now deserted field. There it is... I walked slowly over to the large wolf on the ground. I sniffed. hmph... male just what I need. A big o'l bossy male to tell me what to do. Well, look at him. Pitiful, all bruised up and bleeding.Well,I won't baby him,but I'd better not leave him here to die... I took hold of his scruff and began to drag him to the fallen buck.

Kino had been watching from the bushes, his eyes narrowed with disgust. Sure, someone had gotten to the herd before he had, but to leave a wolf to die? He stepped out of the bushes, snarling at the female, the one who had begun to drag the doe. What do you think you're doing? Kino demanded, his head raised high with domiance. He had been a loner in this land for two weeks, and he had confronted no other wolves besides Faith, his friend from Shuttle Pack. And now suddenly two in the same spot? You can't just leave someone to die, you blood-thirsty vulture-scum! As he spoke harshly at the female, he was moving towards the wolf, who seemed oddly familiar. Of course, he couldn't really tell, blood was covering his face and making it hard to recongize the scent. You alright there? I saw the whole thing, mighty brave of you, 'eh?

As he felt his scruff go taught, Motsin slowly opened his eyes, to see his body being dragged behind him. For a moment he weakly struggled as the stranger wolf pulled him, unsure of what had just happened. Then he remembered at the sight of his battered body... There was a herd of elk... And the bull had gotten to him and knocked him out cold. those shocking blows were hardly felt with the adrenaline coursing through him; but now the ached like no tomorrow. He was closing his eyes again when another wolf figure came into view. His eyes shot open again as he heard faint, but jumbled words.
"Kino!" He rasped weakly, a spray of blood and saliva mix shot from his mouth as he spoke. He began to scramble his legs frantically again. Brave? Motsin laughed hoarsly at his old subordinate, who didn't seem to recognize Motsin's new skinny and starve look. The lack of nutrients had dulled his pelt. "Brave? oh my Kino, it was an awefully pathetic attempt to attack an elk on my own in this state. Do you not remember your old leader's voice?"

As soon as the wolf spoke his name, Kino remembered the kind old leader of Shuttle Pack. Mostin! I'm awfully surprised, I must admit that. To see you in... well I hope you don't mind me saying, sir, but in the state of a starved loner! Not that I'm better off. He turned to look at the female, who was now dragging his former leader. You can let go, missy. He said to her, through clenched teeth. Go ahead and feast, I'll take care of him not that you would take care of him anyways. He felt hatred towards the female, she almost let Mostin die! He could barley imagine that ever happening. He looked up the hill and saw the last deer disappear, it's white tail high as it fled. He wouldn't be eating deer tonight, but he and Faith would manage. But what about Mostin?

"Vulture scum,eh?" I chuckled discustedly at the Aproaching wolf. A pup trying to be an alpha. Then I called out to him: "Unless you'd rather have your blessed friend starve,I would let me finish dragging him to the carcase. He has more of a chance to live that way,no? I admit I did not intend to medicate him,but I also did not mean to harm him." I growled through a mouthful of fur. I was angry at the instant asumption that I ment harm. Normaly I was not like this, but certain things bothered me. When the wolf (now Motsin) Started struggling I let go. " If you want to walk to the deer,go ahead. I just thought I'd help while I am hear." I said softly to him so the other wolf couldn't hear. When my head rose The feirce silver eyes glinted humor. The other had told me to go and eat,as if I was a pup. "No,I've had my fill. You,though...Well,you seem to have a knack for spying on others while they're hunting, hmm? Yes,I could smell you...hear you too."

Motsin shook his head at Kino. "My friend, we should accept her offering, for we should not try to offend her in any way. Respect the respectful..." He spoke, padding slowly towards the caught deer. Kino sure was misunderstanding the emale's doings, She was trying to help him, not let hom die. Even though she may not have wanted to help him, se still did... He glanced back at the female and nodded a quick thanks. Then, Motsin began ravenously teared the meat from the young deer. He wasn't planning on stripping it clean, since after all, it wasn't just his kill. He looked back to the she-wolf. "Miss, may I ask of your name?"

Starchaser. What's yours? I inclined my head, acknowleging Motsin's thanks. My paws rest on what used to be soft, mossy ground. Now it is all torn up from the stampede. I am on a slight incline in the ground, making me lower than the others. My silvery eyes watch Motsin with a small gleam of defiance. No matter, I'm full anyways. I think. As the adrenaline of the hunt slows and my food starts digesting, I calm down. Making a circle,I settle into a softer spot in the ground. I stick my paws out infront of me, but keep my head up, watching the two wolves.
